Drifting

As a ship without sail.

No plans to entail.

I am drifting through life

As if no one would care.

The end might be near,

The end might be far,

But in the end,

I will be free at last.

The song of one,

The power of none.

I´ve been living in denial

Far too long.

The new dawn might bring hope

To enlighten the soul.

But might also bring doom

For my life is through

Sebastian Walbo is mentioned in the following books:

Treasure Hunt

Shattered Plans
Although I penned this little poem, I created a fictitious character to be its author

Sebastian Walbo:  Born and raised in Boston, MA. In August 15, 1910. He began writing poems in high school. By the time he got out college, he had amassed about fifty that were published as an anthology titled: “Poems for Life”. Light-hearted, campy and even funny, the critically acclaimed little book became an instant best-seller catapulting his journalist career. The day after Pearl Harbor he volunteered and fought with the Allied Forces in Italy where he was killed in action in 1944. His only surviving brother had gotten the last 25 poems written and sent through the mail. So he authorized the publication posthumously under the title of “Poems for Death”. Drifting is among the last.
